Courtney Holmes has been an educator with Jackson Public Schools for 17 years. As a seasoned librarian, she has proven experience in fostering literacy and a love for learning within her community. After a seven-year librarianship at Whitten Middle School, she accepted a position as librarian at Murrah High School, where she has served for 10 years. Courtney is known for her collaborative spirit, often working with cultural organizations, community groups, and businesses to create partnerships that enhance library services and outreach. She believes in the power of libraries as safe spaces for exploration, creativity, and connection.

A Chicago, IL native, Courtney moved to Jackson, MS in the eleventh grade and graduated from Forest Hill High School. She received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Southern Mississippi and her master’s degree from Mississippi College where she graduated Summa Cum Laude with a 4.0 respectively.
As an avid reader herself, Courtney enjoys a wide range of genres, with a special fondness for historical fiction and biographies. When she’s not curating the library’s collection or leading programs within her school, she can be found exploring local bookstores, participating in book clubs, or volunteering for literacy initiatives.
With her extensive experience and unwavering commitment to promoting the joys of reading and learning, Courtney continues to inspire and empower her community through the transformative power of libraries.

Her hobbies include teaching, crafting, and going to thrift stores. She is married with two children.
