Charles Travis is the photographer for the Magnolia Literacy Project. He is a 2025 graduate of Callaway High School, where he served as Mr. Callaway and was selected as JROTC Cadet of the Year. Charles is also a student in the Jackson Middle College (JMC) program, a unique educational initiative in Jackson, Mississippi. JMC allows high school students to take college courses at Jackson State University (JSU) while still enrolled in high school. This program, a partnership between Jackson Public Schools (JPS) and JSU, focuses on preparing students to become math teachers, addressing a national shortage. Charles started his undergraduate studies during his junior year of high school and is now a member of the W.E.B. Du Bois - Maria Luisa Alvarez Harvey Honors College at JSU. In the fall of 2025, he will enter his junior year at JSU.
