Connecting Mississippi Youth & Families through Literacy
National Poetry Month Writing Series
National Poetry Month is celebrated every April to increase awareness and appreciation of poetry in the United States. It was introduced in 1996 by the Academy of American Poets as a way to celebrate poets and their work. The month features various events, activities, and resources to engage readers, students, and educators with poetry. The Magnolia Literacy Project has sponsored workshops honoring National Poetry Month in Brookhaven and Jackson, resulting in publication opportunities for youth on our Seen AND Heard Blog.
